Local artist and business owner named as Annual National Shrimp Festival poster winner

Posted

In 2020, local artist and small business owner Tara McMeans was named the winner of the Annual National Shrimp Festival poster contest. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was canceled. McMeans’ design has been updated and will carry over as the official festival poster for 2021.

A graphic designer since 2000, McMeans holds a degree in commercial art from Faulkner State (now Coastal Alabama Community College). She is certified by the Southeast Tourism Society in festivals and events along with travel marketing.

McMeans is no stranger to the Annual National Shrimp Festival. Besides being a resident and former Shrimp Festival Committee Member, she has submitted entries for many years, placing in the top three more than once.

Prints of the poster will be available for purchase at the festival, Oct. 7 -10. Any posters remaining after the festival will be available to purchase at myshrimpfest.com.
