Gulf Shores Fire Department recently honored Firefighter of the Quarter, Nicholas Russell during the Gulf Shores regular council meeting.
Russell is a firefighter/paramedic and serves as the EMS Officer. He spends countless hours keeping up with run reviews, gathering data and ensuring that all department members are current and up to date with all training that is required to maintain their license.
During his time as EMS Officer, Russell has restructured drug logs, department required EMS training, refusal and patient care forms and CPR classes. He has also worked toward developing the Tactical Medical Provider Program to provide critical aid to SWAT Team members in need.
Most recently, the Gulf Shores Fire Department paramedics that are attached to the Gulf Shores SWAT Team have become the first in the state of Alabama to be certified. This is in part due to Russell’s commitment and dedication.
