The 2nd Annual Magnolia Springs Firefighter Festival was a success, drawing crowds to come out and enjoy the perfect weather. The event took place on Saturday, Oct. 23 on the lawn in front of the Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department and was free to attend. Volunteer firefighters worked together to grill pork and chicken, fix up lunch plates and sell the pre-plated lunches to festivalgoers. All proceeds from the sale of lunch plates and department t-shirts went to the Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Department volunteers hope to utilize the funds raised to purchase lifesaving equipment as well as potentially purchasing a new boat to respond to emergencies and rescues on the area’s waterways.
The festival also featured live music provided by Strickly Rivers, Tim Robinson and Stormfolk, a variety of arts and crafts vendors and a kids’ area featuring a bounce house, cornhole and other games, an inflatable maze and an area to view the department’s firetruck and gear.
