LOXLEY, Alabama — Rick Steadman, commander with the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45, presented plaques in appreciation for Loxley Mayor Billy Middleton and Council member Katherine Breeden for their work in getting a Veterans Memorial constructed at Loxley Municipal Park.

The brick structure was dedicated Nov. 10 and includes a plaque which reads, “Dedicated by the Town of Loxley as a lasting tribute to the men and women who have served, or are presently serving, in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Let us never forget that freedom isn’t free. We appreciate your service.”

There is also a memorial wall with plaques representing the five branches of services, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy, along with flags for each branch of service and a POW/MIA flag.
