FCC’s 1st “Fill the Wagon” Sunday

Posted

Fairhope Christian Church held its first “Fill the Wagon Sunday” on May 5th. The youth of the church pitched in with great enthusiasm, pulling a wagon down the aisles of the sanctuary, collecting canned goods, non-perishables, cleaning supplies, and toiletries to be used by the needy in our community. The items collected will be placed in our Community Blessing Box, located on the church’s property at 349 Fairwood Blvd. in Fairhope.

The chairwoman of the collection effort, Vicki Lyons, is dedicated to keeping our Blessing Box filled with currently dated foods and supplies, which is no easy task! She monitors it daily and has become great at predicting the needs of those who visit. Vicki arrives each morning, pops the trunk of her little car — her mobile storage unit, and replenishes the box with necessities for families in our area who have unfortunately hit hard times.

Now that the school year is coming to an end, and there will be no hot breakfasts or lunches offered at the schools, there will surely be more people benefitting from Vicki’s dedication and this congregation’s overwhelming generosity. Fairhope Christian Church is truly doing God’s work. The box is accessible 24/7, and donations from the public will also be appreciated very much. Thank you, on behalf of the neediest in this community.
