FPL Coffee & Donuts on Sept. 22

Foley Public Library is issuing this update for “Coffee & Donuts With an Author” on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m.

Local author Greta T. Bates will be discussing her book, “Snapping, Fraying & Dangling in the Wind: Thoughts on Motherhood, Mid-life and a Meaningful Existence.” (Book is available on amazon.com.) Bates will also have a Q&A session after her discussion. Seating is limited so please call 251-943-7665 to make a reservation. Free donuts and coffee will be served.

Bates began writing “as a means of keeping her sanity.” She is the voice behind the WordPress Blog Lean Into the Muse. Her work is engaging, irreverent, soulful, and sentimental. Bates writes what she knows. Having children later in life, she heard a different clock ticking, one of “what’s next?” She uses her life experiences along with a heavy hand of humor and a dash of Namaste to shed light on what it’s like to be an older mom going through mid-life and seeking meaning. Her first book, “Snapping, Fraying and Dangling in the Wind,” is a collection of her blogs, written over the last eight years. Bates asks questions like, “Why isn’t being a mother considered enough?”, “Are you your worst critic?” and “Is it okay to be happy?” Currently, she lives in Fairhope with her husband, twin daughters and three cats. Connect with her online: Facebook GretaTBates and on Instagram Greta_T_Bates. You can check out her blogs at www.gretatbates.wordpress.com.
