Robertsdale man dies in head-on collision

LOXLEY, Alabama — A Robertsdale man was killed in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler Monday afternoon, Nov. 11 in Loxley.

Emmett McNider II, 40, of Robertsdale was driving southbound on Alabama 59 when he crossed the center turn lane and collided head-on with an 18-wheeler just north of Hinote Glass Road, said Lt. Doug Phillips with the Loxley Police Department.

McNider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler, who has not been identified, was uninjured, Phillips said.

This is the fourth fatality involving 18-wheelers reported in the area within the last week.

Two motorcyclists and an Escambia County, Florida, firefighter lost their lives in separate crashes Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, Nov. 5 and 6 in central and north Baldwin County.

On Nov. 5, an Elberta man was killed in a collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle on the Beach Express near Interstate 10.

Then, in the early morning hours of Nov. 6, a Pensacola man was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer on County Road 112 near the Florida state line. An Escambia County, Florida, firefighter also lost his life when another tractor-trailer rig crashed into the scene.

The Loxley Police Department is investigating the Nov. 11 crash while the other fatal crashes are being invested by ALEA State Troopers.
