Snowbirds flock to Foley for annual event

FOLEY - The 9th Annual Foley Snowbird Coffee was a huge success on Tuesday, Jan. 14, bringing out hundreds of snowbirds looking to learn more about the area or reconnect with people they’ve befriended during previous trips. This year’s theme was Mardi Gras.

The event lasts from 9 a.m. to noon the second Tuesday of Jan. each year, and guests can come out to the Foley Civic Center (407 East Laurel Avenue) to grab some coffee and doughnuts, chat with locals and visitors, and gather information about the city.

The Snowbird Coffee is co-hosted by the City of Foley and the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, and the civic center is lined with booths for local attractions and businesses. Included in this year’s lineup were Foley first responders, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Foley Public Library, OWA, Foley Art Center, Foley Senior Center, Graham Creek Nature Preserve, Foley Main Street, and more.

Welcome packets with discount coupons and giveaways from local merchants were handed out to guests. Guests were also given the chance to compete in the downtown Foley treasure hunt following the coffee, which leads visitors to various participating Foley businesses. Prizes were sponsored by Copper Kettle Tea Bar, Oui Oui Paris, Jan's Art Studio, Sisters Side by Side, The Drowsy Poet, Sugar, Spice and Soul Café, Brett Robinson, OWA, Let's Get Grillin Meats and Yard Art, Wolf Bay Lodge and the City of Foley.
