Fairhope 16, Daphne 3

DAPHNE - No. 2 Fairhope improved to 23-2 with a 16-3 win at neighboring and Class 7A Area 2 rival Daphne. Their first meeting this season resulted in a 3-2 home win for the Pirates. In the rematch, Fairhope took an early 3-0 lead. The Trojans tied it up in the third on Olivia Mitchell’s 3-run homer, but the Pirates added 13 more over the next three frames for the win.

Fairhope locked in home-field advantage to host the area-tournament having also swept Foley and Murphy.s

Alea Johnson struck out 12, walked one and gave up three hits for the win. She helped herself at the plate driving in 2 RBIs. Bella Wiggins had a 3-RBI homer, Lorna Agren and Ryley Harrison each hit a 2-RBI home run. Bailey Wiggins had two doubles and two RBIs. Also driving in two runs were Abigail Long and Ryley Harrison while Justice Palmer added one run batted in.

Gulf Coast Classic

Fairhope 3, Buckhorn 1

Riley Harrison was the winning pitcher for the Pirates in bracket play who scored a per inning in the second, third and fourth. Hailey Minchew had a solo homer as well as a base hit. Bailee Welsh had an RBI hit while Bella Cabral had a hit and Bella Wiggins reached scoring position with a double. Harrison had five strike outs and no walks while scattering five-hits.

Hazel Green 4, Fairhope 1

The Pirates dropped only their second “L” of the year to Hazel Green. Despite getting six hits including a double on HGHS, Fairhope only got one run in after Lorna Green doubled and later scored. Alea Johnson struck out nine, walked two in a four-hitter.
