Sunset Rotary Club presents first Garrett Phillips Memorial Vocational scholarships

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Sunset Rotary presented the first recipients of the Garrett Phillips Memorial Vocational Scholarship during the South Baldwin Center for Techology’s awards ceremony on Thursday, April 29 at the Baldwin County Coliseum.

Trinity Roper is a senior from Elberta High School and wants to pursue cosmetology. Abbiegail Kennard is a senior from Robertsdale High School and wants to attend Culinary school.

Phillips, 18, a graduate of Robertsdale High School and a former student at the South Baldwin Center for Technology, died in an auto accident in September 2020.

Presenting the $2,500 scholarships are Central Baldwin Sunset Rotary scholarship chair Peggy Nelson, and Garrett’s parents, Amy and Randy Younce. Scholarship recipients were announced by Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack.
