Alma Clarice Lott Gustin

On Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, Alma Clarice Lott Gustin, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, loving Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at age 81. Clarice was born in Harrison County, Mississippi on Jan. 29, 1940, to Willard Lott and Eleanor Hatten Lott of Stone County, Mississippi. She attended Gulf Park College for Women and Mississippi Southern College. She enjoyed a successful marriage of 54 years to her late husband, Robert Allan Gustin Sr.

Clarice was passionate about her community. After moving to Fairhope, she was a member of Impact 100 Baldwin County, served on the board of Newcomers of the Eastern Shore, the Baldwin County Senior Travelers, and was a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church. Prior to that, while in Decatur, Alabama, she was the Director of the Morgan County Association for Retarded Citizens. She and her husband then moved to Diamondhead, Mississippi, living there for 32 years before moving to Fairhope. While in Diamondhead, she served as the Director of the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce and she was a board member of the Hancock County, Mississippi Tourism Development Bureau 1996-2011. She also served on the Foundation Board for the Hancock Medical Center. She especially enjoyed the Mardi Gras season of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was a member of several associations in Diamondhead as well as the Krewe of Nereids for a number of years. She was known for her spirit of fun, her love of travel, and her thoughtful care for her family and friends.

Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Bob.  She is survived by one daughter, Leslie (Gary) Williams of Magee, Mississippi; one son, Allan (Christy) Gustin of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren Lauren (Hank) Hopkins, Tripp Gustin, Shelby Gustin, Win Gustin, and Elizabeth Gustin.  She will also be missed by many relatives and friends. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at the Fairhope United Methodist Church at 155 S. Section Street and received family and friends beginning at 10 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m. along with a memorial reception to follow. Private interment afterwards for family at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Caring Ministries at the Fairhope United Methodist Church, 155 S. Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532.
