SAN DIEGO — Petty Officer 1st Class Tymond Dailey, a native of Bay Minette, supports versatile missions while serving at Maritime Expeditionary Security Group One.

Dailey, a 2008 Baldwin County High School graduate, joined the Navy nine years ago.

"I always wanted to join the Navy to gain more life experience," Dailey said.
Skills and values similar to those found in Bay Minette are important to succeed in the military.

"Coming from a small-knit community, I learned to be a good team player and collaborate to get the job done," Dailey said.

These lessons have helped Dailey while serving with the Navy.

As a component of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Maritime Expeditionary Security Forces conduct maritime security operations across the full spectrum of naval, joint and combined operations enabling access and freedom of action throughout the sea-to-shore and inland operating environments.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to trained sailors and a strong Navy.

As a member of the Navy, Dailey is part of a world-class organization focused on maintaining maritime dominance, strengthening partnerships, increasing competitive warfighting capabilities and sustaining combat-ready forces in support of the National Defense Strategy.

"By maintaining control of the seas we maintain the freedoms we enjoy," Dailey said. "It is important to keep threats away from our homeland."

As Dailey and other sailors continue to train and perform missions, they take pride in serving their country in the United States Navy.

"People look at you differently when in uniform," Dailey said. "Serving to me means striving to hold the higher standard of the military."

Dailey is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.

"I want to thank my family for helping me by taking care of things when I've been away on deployment," Dailey added.
