DAPHNE — A planned expansion project at Daphne High School is one step closer after Daphne City Council voted to donate 14 acres to the Baldwin County Board of Education during the April 1 city council meeting.

The project is one in BCBE's Pay As You Go Program phase 5. The $10 million project will:

  • Add a new cafeteria to accommodate up to 750 students per lunch wave;
  • Convert the existing cafeteria to six additional classrooms;
  • Add parking; and
  • Relocate the softball facility.

During the meeting, the council voted unanimously to donate a 13.94-acre parcel that is located just east of Daphne High School Jubilee Stadium. The appraised value of the property is $355,030, according to council documents.

No timeline for the expansion project was discussed during the meeting.
