Daphne senior Victoria Hosford will become Baldwin County’s first collegiate girls’ flag football player after she announced her commitment to the Huntingdon Hawks on Monday.
After she helped the Trojans to an undefeated region championship in their inaugural season, Hosford will continue paving the way when Huntingdon’s first-ever team hits the field next spring.
“After many calls with Coach (Angela) Rowe, I am super excited and grateful to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at Huntingdon College,” Hosford wrote on social media on Monday, March 11. “I would like to thank God for blessing me with this sport. I don’t think I would’ve achieved or made it this far without this sport. I also want to thank my coaches, teammates and friends and family for pushing me and always supporting me. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Rowe for giving me this amazing opportunity. Go HAWKS!!”
Hosford announced her first college offer from Warner on Oct. 31, 2023, and said she “started this sport as just something new but ended up falling in love with it.”
The 5-foot-2 rusher and defensive captain then earned an offer from Southwestern College following the season. Just a month ago, Hosford was on Huntingdon’s campus for a visit on Feb. 13 and has now made her college decision.
