Elberta High School celebrates ribbon-cutting of new $6.9 million gymnasium

Elberta High School celebrated the opening of their new $6.9 million gymnasium with a ribbon cutting on Aug. 24.

"I don't know anyone south of Montgomery that has anything like this," Principal Branton Bailey said, "To see this building take shape is unbelievable."

The 29,970-square-foot facility features a seating capacity of 900, competition basketball court, volleyball court with provisions for two side-by-side courts for training, male and female locker rooms and dressing rooms, three coach's suites, a meeting room, film room, full football locker room, uniform storage, commercial laundry room, two full training rooms and full concession stand.

The Elberta High School girls volleyball team was featured at the event, as the players were the first to play in the new facility at a scrimmage on Aug. 17.
