Four individual runners crossed the finish line first to earn individual sectional championships at their respective classification’s meet on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Bicentennial Park in Bay Minette.

One of those athletes, junior Annie Midyett, helped her Bayside Academy squad earn the team title from the Class 5A Section 1 Championship with all six Admiral point-scorers earning all-sectional honors with top-15 finishes.

On the Class 7A stage, Fairhope senior Lane Watson, a recent Troy commit, claimed the individual title where Gulf Shores junior Beck Montiel did the same in Class 5A. In the girls’ Class 6A race, AHSAA All-Star Alexiana Hinote took home an individual championship back to Spanish Fort.

In the team competition, boys’ teams from Gulf Shores (5A) and St. Michael Catholic (4A) took second in its respective classifications, as did the Fairhope Pirate girls’ team in the 7A Section 1 battle. Girls’ teams from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach (4A) earned third place once the dust settled, as did the Bayside Academy Admiral boys’ team in 5A Section 1.

The girls’ team from Bayside Academy earned the most all-sectional honors with six top-15 finishes, followed closely by five Fairhope Pirates.

The Orange Beach Makos were next with three all-sectional honorees where the Daphne Trojans, Robertsdale Golden Bears and Gulf Shores Dolphins all earned two. The Spanish Fort Toros, Elberta Warriors and St. Michael Cardinals all had one top-15 finisher each.

On the boys’ circuit, Gulf Shores led the way with five all-sectional distinctions and Orange Beach was next with three.

Fairhope, Spanish Fort and St. Michael all had two top-15 finishers where Foley, Robertsdale, Bayside Academy and Elberta each garnered one all-sectional honoree.
