The nation's fifth-ranked softball team showed the part as the Orange Beach Makos made quick work of the Ocean Springs Greyhounds Saturday afternoon, 8-0, to win their second host tournament in a row.

The Orange Beach Classic Tournament brought 12 teams to the Gulf Coast for two weekends of action. The host Makos walked away with the championship surfboard from both events and now own an 18-game win streak to open the season. Orange Beach, a three-time defending state champion, hasn’t lost a softball game since the Class 4A South Regional Finals on May 12, 2023.

The second OBC tournament was capped on Saturday with shutdown pitching from South Carolina commit KG Favors that was complemented by standout performances from up and down the lineup. Louisiana Christian commit Kaitlynn Robertson finished the deal just before the time limit with her fourth RBIs of the game on a two-run home run.

The Makos closed the first half of the season over the weekend and will be off for spring break this week. Orange Beach is scheduled to resume play on April 1 at home against McCraken County from Kentucky.
