Warriors, Golden Bears collide to end fall camps, set sights on regular-season openers

ELBERTA — The preseason came to a close for the Robertsdale Golden Bears and Elberta Warriors during a Thursday jamboree at John T. Cobb Stadium that saw Robertsdale hold a 12-0 lead when varsity players left the field.

Both teams forewent traditional spring practices to start fall camps a week earlier and gain a preseason jamboree. Each head coach mentioned the different approach to the season at Gulf Coast Media Day and said they would reevaluate after this year’s trial run.

The clock has officially started ticking toward the squads’ first regular-season games where Elberta will be on the road to face the Bayside Academy Admirals on Friday, Aug. 25. Robertsdale is open in Week 1 and will kick off play within Class 6A Region 1 in Week 2 on Sept. 1 against Theodore.
