The regular season is coming to an end but not before some more big matchups on the gridiron for Baldwin County’s football teams.

Robertsdale, Gulf Shores and Fairhope are scheduled to host regular-season finales where Baldwin County, Daphne, Foley, Elberta and Bayside Academy have away games as last games of the regular season.

The playoff picture has been locked in and five local teams have clinched top-four finishes in their respective regions. Spanish Fort and Gulf Shores will have home games in the first round and Daphne, St. Michael and Bayside Academy will join them in the postseason.

B.C. Rain Red Raiders at No. 1 Gulf Shores Dolphins: Friday, Nov. 3

Team records entering play: Gulf Shores will enter 9-0 and 7-0 in Class 5A Region 1, B.C. Rain will enter 7-2 and 5-2 in region. Last year: Dolphins won 56-27. All-time series: Gulf Shores leads 7-2.

Coming off its third ranked win of the year at the end of a busy week, Gulf Shores has a chance for its first undefeated regular season. It would also mark the third time the Dolphins went unbeaten at home.

B.C. Rain will enter Friday’s matchup on a six-game winning streak after its only two losses in region play came to Vigor and Faith Academy in September. The Red Raiders’ run also includes a 49-35 win over Class 7A Davidsion on Sept. 29 which set a season-high for single-game scoring.

Only Gulf Shores (48) and B.C. Rain (99) have limited its 5A-R1 opponents to double-digit points through seven games.

Baldwin County Tigers at Robertsdale Golden Bears: Friday, Nov. 3

Team records entering play: Robertsdale will enter 0-9 and 0-7 in Class 6A Region 1, Baldwin County will enter 1-8 and 1-6 in region. Last year: Tigers won 51-27. All-time series: Baldwin County leads 49-16-2.

Baldwin County and Robertsdale will meet at the bottom of the 6A-R1 standings where both teams enter on losing streaks. The Tigers have dropped their last five straight and the Golden Bears will be looking to snap a 23-game losing streak dating back to Oct. 1, 2021.

Baldwin County has scored at least 20 points in all but two of their last five losses and Robertsdale has registered at least 6 points in three of its last five games.

Last season’s 51-27 decision in favor of the Tigers set season-best scoring marks for both teams.

Foley Lions at Jackson-Olin Mustangs: Friday, Nov. 3

Team records entering play: Foley will enter 4-5 and 2-4 in Class 7A Region 1, Jackson-Olin will enter 0-9 and 0-6 in Class 6A Region 5. Last year: Lions won 28-12 in teams’ first meeting.

Senior running back Kolton Nero, the state’s 7th-leading rusher according to MaxPreps' rankings, has a chance to break the single-season rushing record in his final game as a Foley Lion.

With 1,718 rushing yards through 9 games for an average of over 190 yards per game, the AHSAA All-Star is within 113 yards of the single-season record of 1,831 rushing yards according to research from South Baldwin Sports and the WHEP Radio Network.

Bayside Academy Admirals at Alabama Christian Eagles: Friday, Nov. 3

Team records entering play: Bayside Academy will enter 7-2 and 5-2 in Class 4A Region 1, Alabama Christian will enter 6-3 and 4-2 in Class 3A Region 3. Last year: Eagles won 43-18 in teams’ first meeting.

Bayside Academy has won its last three games and will look to extend that streak with a revenge victory after last year’s 43-18 defeat. Both teams are playoff-bound as they were last year entering the first meeting.

Sophomore quarterback Sammy Dunn has collected 1,567 yards on 104-of-141 passing with 17 touchdowns against 8 interceptions through 9 games. He’s also registered 40 rushing yards on 25 carries for 1,607 total yards and an average of 178.6 yards per game.

Sophomore Billy Neill leads the Bayside Academy defense with 99 total tackles between 45 solo tackles and 54 assists. His 2 sacks are also tied for the team lead alongside Broadhead, senior Graham Uter and sophomore Jack Wilkinson.
