Seniors Alexiana Hinote from Spanish Fort and Charles Perry from UMS-Wright highlighted the 2023 Southwest Alabama All-Regional Team as selected by Mobile and Baldwin County cross country coaches.

Formerly known as the Super 7, this year’s team was expanded to honor 10 athletes from both the local girls’ and boys’ teams. Seven athletes from Baldwin County, including four girls and three boys, and 13 from Mobile County, including six girls and seven boys, were recognized.

Out of the 20 runners recognized, eight registered top-10 finishes at their respective classification’s Alabama High School Athletic Association state championship. Three more recorded their best finish of the season at state as well.

UMS-Wright led the way with four selections between one girl and three boys, followed by Bayside Academy (3 girls) and St. Paul’s (1 girl, 2 boys). Spanish Fort and McGill-Toolen each had one female and male representative where Baker, Bayshore Christian, Fairhope, Saraland, Satsuma and St. Luke’s all had one athlete recognized.

Alexiana Hinote, senior – Spanish Fort

Southwest Alabama All-Regional Girls’ Team

Annie Midyett, junior – Bayside Academy

Season-best time: 19:10 at Class 5A State Meet for 4th place; 4.1 GPA; Service award freshman year; Peer Helper

Catherine Doyle, junior – Bayside Academy

Season-best time: 18:42 at Class 5A State Meet for 2nd place; 4.08 weighted GPA, 3.98 unweighted GPA; AP Language, AP Biology, AP Pre Calc and Advanced French; Key Club, Baking Club

Claire Mostellar, freshman – McGill-Toolen

Season-best time: 19:22 at Mobile County Championship; Varsity Track and Field (800, 1600, 3200)

Emily Miles, senior – St. Paul’s

Season-best time: 19:04.95 at Jesse Owens Classic; AP scholar, National Art Honor Society, Honor Roll and Headmaster's List; also the leading scorer on the varsity soccer team and was named to the AHSAA All-Star team for both cross country and soccer; Key Club, Art Club, Mentor Club, Rutledge Fellows, Book Club

Izzy Riddick, sophomore – Satsuma

Season-best time: 19:18.09 at Sectional Championship; 4.4 GPA, Mu Alpha Theta, National Junior Honors Society; Peer Helpers, Student Council, Project Outreach, senior Tri Hi Y, helps coach the 3-6 Grade Cross Country and Track Team

Lindsey Baxter, senior – Baker
