Spread love to Children's of Alabama patients this Valentine's Day

Make Valentine’s Day unforgettable for young patients at Children’s of Alabama by participating in a heartwarming initiative. From today until Feb. 14, individuals can send complimentary greeting cards to children at the hospital, bringing joy to their hospital stay according to a news release.

The process is straightforward: visit give.childrensal.org/valentinesday, choose from four unique Valentine’s Day card designs, and hospital staff will ensure the cards reach the patients on Valentine’s Day.

Mindy Wald, the community development manager at Children’s of Alabama, highlighted the significance of this gesture.

“Being in the hospital can be hard for a child, especially during a fun holiday like Valentine’s Day,” Wald said in the release. “These cards, which are coming from community members, bring a smile to their faces.”

Sponsored by Spire, a dedicated supporter of Children’s since 2017, the card drive also includes a generous matching donation initiative. Spire will match donations made by contributors during this campaign, up to a total of $5,000.

“I’ve seen firsthand the joy the medical play program brings to the patients and families at Children’s of Alabama,” Joe Hampton, president of Spire Alabama, Mississippi and Gulf Coast, said in the release. “That’s why all of us at Spire are excited to once again support this special Valentine’s Day campaign.”

However, due to infection control protocols, Children’s cannot accept in-person gift donations, handmade cards, food or candy, stuffed animals, toys depicting violence, religious items, crocheted/knit items or gently used homemade items.
