If you want to get a head start on the holiday eating season, this weekend is for you. Across Baldwin County there are several great food events to enjoy.

Kick off your weekend Thursday at the Fairhope Piggly Wiggly for the Taste of L.A. event. This weekend kicks off Monarch butterfly tagging at the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Pack a picnic, and enjoy dining with butterflies as volunteers and interns tag. If you are an oyster lover, you need to get to The Hangout, and if you are a gumbo fan, head to Fairhope. That is just a small sampling of this weekend's offerings in Baldwin County.

Taste of L.A

  • What: If you are always seeking local products to stock your pantry, get yourself to the Piggly Wiggly Fairhope for the Taste of L.A. event. The annual event brings 40 local vendors under one roof and allows them to showcase their products. The evening also includes music, prizes, beer and wine.
  • When: Thursday, Nov. 2, 4 p.m.
  • Where: Piggle Wiggle Fairhope, 100 Plantation Pointe Road, Fairhope
  • Price: Free to attend

Picnic with Butterflies

  • What: Picnic with butterflies as refuge volunteers and intern tag Monarch butterflies on the Pine Beach Trail by Little Lagoon. Pack lunch and enjoy the show. A small table will be set up at the observation tower to discuss the Monarchs and citizen science.
  • When: Nov. 3-8, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Where: Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge – Pine Beach Trail, 12295 State Highway 180 West, Gulf Shore
  • Price: Free to attend

Fairhope Veterans Parade

  • What: Show your support for those who have served our country. The parade begins and ends at the Fairhope Civic Center. Come out, line the streets and say thank you to our veterans.
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m.
  • Where: Downtown Fairhope
  • Price: Free to attend

Experience the Oyster

  • What: Oysters and chefs from across the region, football on the big screen and live music will make for an amazing day out. Head to The Hangout for the second annual Experience the Oyster event presented by Murder Point Oysters. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.hangoutcookoff.com.
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 4, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunset Yoga Series

  • What: Enjoy the sunset overlooking the beach while you participate in a free, all level, yoga class. The fall season means the return of the annual Sunset Yoga Series hosted by the City of Gulf Shores. Bring your yoga mat and prepare to rid yourself of the week's stress.
  • When: Nov. 3, Nov. 17, Dec. 1, Dec. 15, at 5:30 p.m.

Daphne Christmas Extravaganza Gift Show

  • What: Ready to complete or begin your holiday shopping? For the 13th year the Daphne Christmas Extravaganza Gift Show brings local artists and vendors under one roof to help you find the perfect gift for the special people in your life.
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Where: Daphne Civic Center, 618 Whispering Pines Road, Daphne
  • Price: $5 entry fee

Honey Bee Festival

  • What: Enjoy the beautiful weather by spending the day exploring the artists, vendors and entertainment at Honey Bee Park in Robertsdale. The annual Honey Bee Festival is an annual event that benefits the Central Baldwin feeder pattern schools.
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Best of the Bay Gumbo Championship

  • What: Wear your stretchy pants and bring an appetite to the 12th-Annual Eastern Shores Gumbo Championship and Fall Festival. Spend a day enjoying all-you-can-eat gumbo and live music from the Marlow Boys Band while the children enjoy bounce houses and face painting.
