Breaking back pain: Intracept procedure debuts at Infirmary Health and Gulf Orthopaedics

Say goodbye to chronic back pain. The future of relief is here.

Infirmary Health is pioneering a breakthrough treatment for chronic back pain through the Intracept procedure.

Dr. Leslie Rush, a pain management physician with Gulf Orthopaedics, recently conducted the inaugural Intracept procedure in the Gulf Coast Region at Infirmary Health’s Daphne Surgery Center.

Intracept, a minimally invasive procedure, specifically addresses vertebrogenic pain, a form of chronic low back pain. The procedure employs a specialized probe inserted into the vertebrae to target the basivertebral nerve (BVN). By utilizing radiofrequency energy, the probe heats the BVN, blocking pain signal transmission and delivering relief to patients.

Approximately 65 million Americans endure back pain, with 16 million adults contending with persistent or chronic pain that hampers daily activities. Notably, the Intracept procedure is implant-free, preserving the spine's overall structure. The minimal invasiveness of the procedure allows patients to swiftly resume their daily activities.
