Gulf Shores announces upcoming Christmas events

With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, the City of Gulf Shores has announced upcoming events to fill your holiday season with cheer and excitement.
This year, the celebration will include everything from a classic Christmas movie in Meyer Park to breakfast with Santa himself.

Community Christmas at Sims Park
When: Dec. 1 , 6 to 8 p.m.

Where: Sims Park at 348 W. 19th Ave., Gulf Shores, AL
Kicking off the season of celebration, families and community members can take part in photos with Santa, holiday treats, crafts and the annual snowball drop which features a faux snow blizzard and over 8,000 ping-pong balls dropped from above.
Select snowballs will have a number that is correlated with a prize supplied by the event’s sponsors.

The Baldwin Pops Holiday Concert
When: Dec. 5, 7 p.m.
Where: Eric. H. Meyer Civic Center at 1930 W. 2nd St., Gulf Shores
How much: Free admission, tickets are first come, first serve
This event will feature The Baldwin Pops band, comprised of local volunteer musicians who aim to share concert band music with the Baldwin County community.
The concert will also be a collection site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, and attendees are encouraged to bring one new, unwrapped gift or toy for the drive.

Movies at Meyer Park
When: Dec. 14, 6 p.m.
Where: Meyer Park at 400 E. 2nd Ave., Gulf Shores
How much: Free admission
This year, the park will be showcasing a holiday classic as a part of their monthly movie series; showing “Elf” on the big screen.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chair, friends and family and join their neighbors to enjoy this fan-favorite movie under the stars.

Breakfast with Santa
When: Dec. 16, 8 a.m.
Where: Eric H. Meyer Civic Center
How much: Admission is $5, free for children 3 years and under
Families can join Santa for breakfast complete with pancakes, sausage, bacon and eggs. Per the release, children will also have the opportunity to receive a complimentary photo with Santa, perfect for completing any Christmas card.
