ELBERTA, Alabama — Three days from completing his work release sentence on a 2016 possession of marijuana conviction, an Elberta man has been arrested again on possession charges and illegal gun possession charges after marijuana was found growing in his backyard and a search revealed several firearms and other items in his possession.
Harold Scott Baker, 55, was arrested Tuesday, April 3 at his Elberta home after investigators with the Baldwin County Drug Task Force and deputies from the Baldwin County Community Corrections division received a tip that he was growing marijuana at his residence.
Upon arrival at his residence, investigators witnessed Baker shooting a pistol in his backyard. It is unlawful for a convicted felon to possess a firearm.
Investigators spoke to Baker and ultimately obtained a search warrant for the property. Several firearms, ammunition, a bullet resistant vest, marijuana, paraphernalia and controlled prescription medications were located.
Baker was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana first degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol. He is being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center with no bond.
