MONTGOMERY — Spanish Fort edged Daphne 3- 2 in the South Super Regionals Championship match Saturday in Montgomery in five sets 25-17, 10-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-11. The Toros (56-4) and Trojans (36-11) both advanced to the Class 6A Elite Eight state tournament in Birmingham Oct. 26-27.

Class 3A top-ranked Bayside Academy (54-5) also advanced after a tough five-set victory over Providence Christian (43-8) 26-28, 25-16, 25-9, 24-26, 15-10. The Admirals will be defending a 14-consecutive state-title run.

In Class 7A top-ranked McGill-Toolen Catholic’s defending state champion Dirty Dozen (48-9) swept Enterprise (30-14), 25-12, 25-13, 25-18. The EHS Wildcats edged Murphy in the semifinals 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 17-25, 26-24, 15-8).

In the 5A Championship Finals, St. Paul’s Episcopal swept Faith Academy, 25-19, 25-15, 25-17. Both teams advance to the Elite Eight.
