Battle of Baldwin High School Fishing Tournament

• 2016 team title goes to Fairhope, Parish wins individual Total Slam

SUMMERDALE, Ala. — Fairhope High’s anglers edged runner-up Robertsdale 192-174.5 for the top team spot Saturday in the 2016 Battle of Baldwin County Schools Fishing Tournament hosted by Robertsdale High School. Ian Parish reeled in the Total Slam Winner individual award after netting the big fish in different species categories.

Prizes were awarded to the top fish per category, all five species combined score for individual, top team, and for the coaches’ challenge. Freshwater and inshore saltwater species are included in this tournament, including Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, White Trout, and Largemouth Bass.

The Awards Ceremony was held at Baldwin EMC in Summerdale. A total of 33 Anglers Submitted 143 Fish during the event.

Top 5 Team Results: Fairhope: 192, Robertsdale: 174.25, Spanish Fort: 82.5, Bayshore Christian: 68, Elberta: 27.5. 



Top 5 Individual Awards:

First Place, Ian Parish: 58.25 Total Slam Winner: (Bass: 10.5, Speck: 20, Redfish: 18, White Trout: 9.75),

2nd, Brendan Carter: 50.5 Total: (Bass: 8.25, Speck: 16.25, Redfish: 16, White Trout: 10), 3rd, Tyler Croy: 49 Total: (Bass: 13, Speck: 19, Redfish: 17), 4th, Michael Fincher: 40.5 Total: (Bass: 11, Speck: 18, White Trout: 11.5), 5th, Allen Lores: 37 Total: (Bass: 21.25, Speck: 15.75).

Other awards:

Largest Redfish: Ian Parish 18”

Largest Speckled Trout: Ian Parish 20”

Largest White Trout: Whit Whitaker 12.5"

Largest Bass: Wyatt Johnson 22.75”

The tournament, for members of Baldwin County schools fishing teams was hosted by Robertsdale High School and directed by Golden Bears coach Corey M. Stockman.

The event is an opportunity for all Baldwin County high school and middle school fishing teams to come together in a fun, competitive fishing tournament. The mission is to enjoy the great outdoors while practicing sportsmanship and conservation, instilling good stewardship of our precious, natural resources.
