Artwork selected for Robertsdale Rotary Rodeo

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Robertsdale Rotary Club once again hosted its Cover Art Contest for its 21st Annual PCA Championship Rodeo, which will be held Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 at the Baldwin County Fairgrounds arena in Robertsdale.

Budding artists from throughout Baldwin County vyed for the chance to have their artwork featured on the program cover, while winning cash prizes and rodeo tickets for this year’s event, part of the Ram Rodeo Series, sponsored by Chuck Stevens Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Fiat, Ram, and put on by Bo Campbell Productions.

This year’s winner was Drew Clukey, a sophomore at Robertsdale High School.

Other young artists chosen to be included in rodeo program are: Veronica Brock, junior, RHS; Madison Sanderson, seventh grade, Central Baldwin Middle School; Isabella Nudo, eighth grade, CBMS; Asa Lewandowski, kindergarten, Robertsdale Elementary School; Johana Cuevas, third grade, RES; Kaylee White, second grade, RES; Laura Greve, junior, RHS; Whitney Wells, seventh grade, CBMS; Chase Williams, eighth grade, CBMS; John Baswell, first grade, RES; Alexis Walstad, fifth grade, RES.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we’re looking forward to putting on a fun event for the whole family,” said 2019-20 Rotary Club President Cheryl Russell. “We enjoy putting this rodeo on and look forward to it each year.”

Gates open each night at 5:30 p.m. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. and feature saddle and bareback bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, ladies breakaway roping and barrel racing, capped off each night by everyone’s favorite, bull riding.

Advance tickets cost $10 for adults and are available at Greer’s CashSaver in Robertsdale, the Summerdale Western Shore, Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, Bryant Bank locations in Foley and Daphne and Silverhill and Summerdale locations of United Bank.

Friday night is Kid’s Night and children 12 and under are admitted free with a parent or guardian. Saturday advance tickets for children 5 to 12 cost $5.

Friday and Saturday tickets cost $12 on the night of the event for adults; Saturday tickets cost $6 at the gate for ages 5 to 12. Admission for ages 5 and under is free both nights.

Rodeo participants will also once again get the opportunity to win a Henry Golden Boy Long Colt .45 rifle, courtesy of Campbell Hardware.

Raffle tickets are being sold through Rotary Club members or during the event. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and a drawing will be held during the rodeo on Saturday, March 14.

Participants will also be given the chance to enter a free drawing for a 2020 Ram truck from Rodeo series sponsor Ram Rodeo. Tickets will be available both nights of the event.

Local students are also invited to participate in the annual coloring contest, presented by Bryant Bank. You can pick up an entry form at the Foley and Daphne locations of Bryant Bank or check with your local school.

One girls’ and one boys’ bicycle, donated by Walmart, will be given away each night during the rodeo.

The event is produced by Bo Campbell Rodeo and is part of the Ram Rodeo Series.

Through its Foundation, the Robertsdale Rotary Club has contributed to the Buckaroo Foundation, the Robertsdale High School Naval Junior ROTC, Roads of Hope, the Jace Waters Foundation, the Central Baldwin Education Foundation, Catholic Social Services, Women’s Care Medical Center, Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center, Habitat for Humanity and the Making Memories Hunt, among others. The Rotary Club Foundation has also contributed to several local school programs, including scholarships for local high school students.

“All monies raised will go back into the community to help charities in Baldwin County,” Russell said, “Including the William Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette.”

The club also provides continuing support for ARC of Baldwin County, primarily through sponsorship of the annual Doc’s Hot Trot for ARC presented by LuLu’s, held every year in June.
