The Daphne Trojans and Gulf Shores Dolphins joined the Bayside Academy Admirals and Spanish Fort Toros in picking up big region wins in Week 3.

Daphne’s opened play within Class 7A Region 1 while Gulf Shores improved to 2-0 in Class 5A Region 1.

Daphne 49, Alma-Bryant 35

Junior quarterback Jamar Malone, an IMG transfer, threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to help the host Trojans build to a 41-7 lead over Alma-Bryant.

Jaecyn Myles, Jalen Stanton and John Davis all came down with touchdown receptions as Malone finished with 187 yards on 14-of-18 passing to go along with 89 rushing yards on 8 carries.

While the Hurricanes made a second-half comeback, it was Nick Clark’s second rushing touchdown of the night that gave Daphne a two-possession lead with only five minutes in regulation. Clark registered scoring rushes of 31 and 5 yards as the Trojans held on for the 49-35 win to record the most points scored since a 55-7 win over Alma-Bryant on Oct. 1, 2021.

The Trojans improved to 8-0 in the all-time series against the Hurricanes. Next on the docket, Daphne (1-2, 1-0) will travel to face the Davidson Warriors (1-1, 0-1) who fell to Baker 66-28 on Friday.

No. 5 Gulf Shores 31, No. 3 Faith Academy 16

As an act of revenge from the loss in the state quarterfinals, Gulf Shores took down Faith Academy by two possessions to register its first win over a ranked opponent since a 20-14 win over top-ranked Linden on Oct. 7, 2011.

While the Dolphins’ one-two punch of Ronnie Royal (15 carries for 100 yards and 1 touchdown) and Kolin Wilson (16 carries for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns) got things done offensively, Elijah Myers was the defensive star. Myers collected 3 interceptions with 76 return yards and 3 pass breakups to go along with 6 tackles and a tackle for a loss.

Isaiah Hammac got the job done on both sides of the ball for Gulf Shores where he finished with 2 catches for 29 receiving yards and a touchdown offensively to go along with 4 tackles including 1 for a loss and 3 pass breakups as well as a fumble recovery defensively. Similarly, Royal added 4 tackles and 3 pass breakups.

Next up, the Dolphins (3-0, 2-0) are set to host the UMS-Wright Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0) who opened region play with a 13-6 win over LeFlore on Friday.

Up next: The Golden Bears (0-2, 0-1) will host the McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets (0-2, 0-1) on Friday who will be coming off an open week.

No. 8 Clarke Prep 71, Snook Christian 46

Up next: The Eagles (0-4, 0-1) return home to face the Hooper Academy Colts (2-1, 2-0) who took down Macon-East Academy 50-24.

No. 4 Jackson 50, Orange Beach 2

Up next: The Makos (0-2, 0-1) have a home meeting with the Satsuma Gators (2-1, 0-1) scheduled for Sept. 15 after Satsuma lost its region opener 46-6 to Escambia County.

No. 8 MGM 28, No. 9 Foley 7

Up next: The Lions (2-1, 0-1) are set to return home on Friday to face the Baker Hornets (3-0, 1-0) who took down Davidson 66-28 in Week 3.

Pensacola Catholic 24, Fairhope 10

Up next: The Pirates (1-2) will stay at home to take on the Mary G. Montgomery Vikings (3-0, 1-0) who beat Foley 28-7.

Spanish Fort 14, Baldwin County 13

Up next: The Toros (2-1, 2-0) will return to The Hill to face the top-ranked Saraland Spartans (3-0, 2-0) who took down St. Paul’s 47-3 in Week 3. The Tigers (0-2, 0-1) will have a home contest against the Theodore Bobcats (2-1, 2-0) scheduled for Sept. 15.

Williamson 25, Elberta 12

Up next: The Warriors (0-3, 0-2) are scheduled to travel across the Bay to face the LeFlore Rattlers (1-2, 0-2) who fell to UMS-Wright by a 13-6 score on Friday.
