Editor’s note: Postle was omitted from previous coverage of Bryant-Jordan Scholarship winners from Baldwin County.

Bayside Academy senior Ty Postle was recently recognized as a WKRG Scholar-Athlete as well as a regional winner of a $3,000 Bryant-Jordan Scholarship as his decorated running career with the Admirals winds down.

Postle, an AP Scholar and a National Merit Finalist with a 4.48 weighted GPA, was featured on WKRG’s April 18 newscast after the 38th annual Bryant-Jordan Awards Banquet was held the previous week.

Away from his sports, Postle is involved in Bayside Academy’s Scholars Bowl team, Honor Council and National Honor Society as well as earned his Eagle Scout rank. On the cross-country course and track, Postle has represented the Admirals with all-state honors 10 times between three in cross country, one in indoor track and six in outdoor track. He also competed in the 2022 AHSAA North-South all-star cross country race.

At state championship meets, Postle was the individual runner-up at the 2021 Class 4A cross country finals as well as the individual runner-up in three races (the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter runs) at the 2022 Class 3A outdoor track finals. He has been a part of three state championship-winning teams (2020 Class 1A-3A indoor, 2021 Class 4A cross country, 2022 Class 3A outdoor track) and six more runner-up teams.

Postle was among three Baldwin County representatives named regional winners of Bryant-Jordan Scholarships, joining Robertsdale’s Mecca Yost-Nicely and Daphne’s Baylor Beard.

More on the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Program

Postle was among 104 regional winners who were awarded more than $410,000 in scholarships through the Bryant-Jordan Program, named in honor of the late coaches Paul “Bear” Bryant of Alabama and Ralph “Shug” Jordan of Auburn. Through last year, the program had awarded approximately $12 million in financial awards to 3,220 senior student-athletes since its inception in 1986.

The 2023 banquet recognized 52 regional scholar-athlete winners selected for their excellence in athletics and academics and 52 achievement winners chosen for their ability to overcome major obstacles during their high school careers.

Eight students in each category were selected as regional winners in Classes 1A through 6A. Four regional winners in each category were selected from school nominations in Class 7A. Each of the 104 regional winners received a $3,000 scholarship. The 14 Class winners received an additional $3,500 and for each overall state winner, the stipend received was $4,000.

In addition, several other individuals, schools and organizations have also joined the Bryant-Jordan Program and present additional scholarships as well.
