Baldwin County Commission presented its third-annual Holiday Lights Drive-Through and Christmas Festival at Bicentennial Park, giving visitors a chance to get into the Christmas spirit in North Baldwin.

From Nov. 27 through Dec. 30 from 5 until 9 p.m., Bicentennial Park will feature Christmas lights that sync up to music. Passenger vehicles can ride through the roads and watch as the lights sync up with the music that is played on 87.9 FM.

On Dec. 8 and 9, a walk-through Christmas Extravaganza will be held inside the park and will incorporate Christmas soloists, and groups and will give guests the opportunity to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who and an elf. This walk-through will feature carnival rides, including snow tubing, kid's activities, face painting, Uncle Joe's Rolling Petting Zoo, balloon art, train, hay rides through the par, singing, food truck and more.

"The connections made at these events have a positive impact on individuals and communities that lasts far beyond the event," said Special Historic Projects Coordinator Felisha Anderson. "The events establish a strong town identity, particularly for smaller townships like Stockton. It is also a great way to gain awareness and build community trust."

Anderson added that this historic park was chosen to host these events to draw in community members.

"I refer to Bicentennial Park as a “Hidden Treasure.” The park is the very spirit of Baldwin County as it has seen the many cultures and historical events cross its visage over the centuries. Research shows that events and festivals are the fastest-growing forms of tourism. Festivals attract visitors. So, we thought 'what better way to bring awareness to Bicentennial Park?' Through this event, we put forth our best effort to actively promote Bicentennial Park and North Baldwin County."

These events are sponsored by the commission and coordinated and hosted by the BCC's Department of Archives and History with support from Baldwin County's parks, building maintenance, purchasing and CIS departments.

These events are free to the public, though donations are excepted.
