Call for volunteers to improve IRS

Deadline for Taxpayer Advocacy Panel applications nears

Posted

Interested individuals from Alabama are urged to submit their applications by March 15 to join the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP) and contribute to enhancing the operations of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Civic-minded citizens across the nation have an exceptional chance to effect positive change in their communities by becoming members of the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP). Serving as TAP members, individuals have the unique opportunity to safeguard taxpayer rights and enhance IRS services, policies, products and procedures.

TAP members act as conduits for grassroots concerns, advocating for improvements in IRS services and overall taxpayer satisfaction. Applications for the 2025 TAP cycle remain open until March 15.

While TAP seeks volunteers to represent all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and one representative for taxpayers residing or conducting business abroad, there is a notable need in specific states, including Alabama.

Interested individuals can find additional information and submit their applications through USAJobs.com (use keyword 'Taxpayer Advocacy Panel'). Newly appointed TAP members will commit to a three-year term commencing in December 2024.
