Cavender’s Boot City joins forces with Working Ranch Cowboys Association to aid wildfire victims

Cavender’s Boot City has announced a partnership with the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) to extend support to victims of the recent wildfires.

The Smokehouse Creek Fire, described as the largest wildfire in Texas history, destroyed over 1 million acres across Texas and Oklahoma in February. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared a disaster in 60 counties in response to the devastation caused by the blaze, now ranked as the second-largest wildfire in U.S. history.

In response to this crisis, Cavender’s Boot City is facilitating donations at all of its 100 locations across 15 states, as well as through its website. Donations of $1, $5, $10, and $20 are being accepted to support the WRCA's Foundation National Disaster Relief Fund. The WRCA Foundation's mission is to provide financial aid to working ranch cowboys and their families.

All contributions collected by Cavender’s will be given to the WRCA to assist those affected by the wildfires.
Leman Wall, WRCA Association manager, emphasized the enduring challenges faced by ranchers, particularly those hit by multiple wildfires and droughts.

"Many of the ranchers affected from the February and March 2024 fires were also hit from the fires of 2017. Many have also had hardships with drought. This lifestyle can try you on a normal year even without natural disasters. The grass loss alone will take up to two years to come back and then these ranches need time to get fences back in working order before cattle can be restocked," Wall said in a news release.

Cavender’s emphasized the importance of preserving and protecting the cowboy heritage and culture. Operating several working ranches in Texas and Oklahoma and raising registered Brangus and Charolais cattle, the Cavender family embodies the western lifestyle. Whether customers shop online or visit a local Cavender’s store, they can expect top-quality products and knowledgeable staff dedicated to providing an authentic western shopping experience.

The WRCA, dedicated to promoting ranching on a national and international scale, aims to preserve the lifestyle of the working cowboy. One of WRCA's key initiatives is the production of the World Championship Ranch Rodeo, which not only showcases the skills of working ranch cowboys but also raises funds for the WRCA Foundation.
