Celebrating National Doctors' Day: South Baldwin Regional Medical Center gives back to community

Posted

In observance of National Doctors' Day on March 30, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center chose to commemorate the occasion by making a charitable contribution in honor of their medical staff according to a news release. This year, instead of receiving traditional gifts, a total of $6,000 has been donated to two local organizations: the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center and the Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation.

The decision to donate to these organizations showcases South Baldwin Regional Medical Center's commitment to supporting vital community initiatives. The Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center plays a crucial role in providing essential resources and services to child victims of abuse through a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach. Established in 1989, the center offers a child-friendly environment where victims of sexual and physical abuse, along with their families, can access various services free of charge. The donation will enable the center to continue its mission of aiding children, adolescents and their supportive family members. More information about the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center can be found at baldwincountycac.org.

Similarly, the Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation (ACCF) focuses on assisting individuals grappling with the challenges of cancer by alleviating financial burdens associated with the disease. Recognizing that cancer often brings not only physical and emotional strain but also financial difficulties, the ACCF utilizes philanthropic support to help patients maintain their focus on health during their cancer journey. The contribution from South Baldwin Regional Medical Center will contribute to the foundation's efforts in providing financial assistance to cancer patients. Further details about the Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation can be found at anchorcrossfoundation.org.

During a presentation of the donation checks to these local nonprofits, Margaret Roley, CEO of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, highlighted the importance of community support.

"While presenting the checks to each of these local nonprofits, their gratitude for our medical teams' donation spoke volumes. Each day, they are faced with different challenges as they offer services free of charge and count on donations like this to make an impact in our community," Roley said in the release.

Roley also extended her gratitude towards the staff at SBRMC and associated providers.

"Thank you to our providers, for not only the outstanding care provided when patients need it, but also for your unwavering support when our community needs you," Roley said.
