If clearing out the clutter is on your list of resolutions, load up the car and head to the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion, Jan. 13.

The cities of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and Gulf State Park have teamed up again this year for the Coastal Alabama Annual E-Cycling and Shred Day.

This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion on Each Beach Boulevard.

The event is free to the public and has an effortless process in place. Simply drive up in the lane you are directed to and volunteers will take items from your vehicle.

"We've done this event for well over a decade now and have really become efficient at it," said Steve Jones, Coastal Alabama Business Chamber vice president of events and community relations. "We run rain or shine and folks don't even have to exit their vehicle, it's just a great way to help keep the community clean and clutter free."

Individuals can bring personal paper documents to be shredded such as:

  • Bank statements
  • Canceled checks
  • Paycheck stubs
  • ATM receipts
  • Credit card statements
  • Utility bills

Attendees may also bring any electronic items for disposal, such as:

  • Televisions
  • Computers
  • Vacuums
  • Printers
  • Power tools
  • Please note that batteries will not be accepted.

Each vehicle is limited to 50 pounds of shredding. Participants are asked to not tape or tie bags or boxes. Batteries should be removed from items before arrival.
