Gulf Coast runners have a new 5K to add to their fall race schedule.

Foley Sister Cities will host its inaugural Foley Sisters Cities, 5K Oktoberfest Run at OWA Saturday, Oct. 7.

The early announcement gives participants ample time to put together German Oktoberfest-themed costumes. Awards for the best costumes will be given after the race.

Participants in the 5K and 1-mile fun run will receive an official event T-shirt and access to real time results. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in various age groups and the top three finishers overall. Stay after the race for music, beer, pretzels and bratwurst.

The Foley Sister Cities Commission is a nonprofit with a goal of promoting long-term, global people-to-people relationships through the development of international leadership, friendship and understanding. It seeks to facilitate valuable partnerships and citizen diplomacy with cultural, educational and commercial entities in Foley's sister city Hennef, Germany. It also provides an opportunity for student and community delegation exchanges.
