Gulf Shores man charged with domestic violence after incident near Meyer Park

Posted

Allen Wayne Stafford of Gulf Shores was taken into custody by the Gulf Shores Police Department (GSPD) Monday morning after police received a disturbance call.

GSPD responded to a disturbance call at Islander Apartments at East 23rd Avenue at approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 10. Upon arrival, patrol officers witnessed two individuals leaving the residence who said an armed male was inside the apartment, and he was not allowing his wife to leave. The GSPD SWAT Team was called to the scene to assist.

A female exited the apartment and confirmed her husband was inside and that they had a dispute. Shortly after she left the residence, Stafford was seen climbing out of a window. He was arrested after a brief struggle with officers.

Stafford has been charged with domestic violence in the third degree and is being held at the Gulf Shores City Jail. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

Anyone having any information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Gulf Shores Police Department at (251) 968-2431.
