According to a news release from the Major Crimes Unit of Baldwin County, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in the 13000 block of Highway 90 in Loxley yesterday evening.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, around 8:30 p.m., officers from the Loxley Police Department and deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office made their way to the scene.
Following the initial response, the Loxley Police Department sought the assistance of the Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit to delve into the incident. Investigators worked through the night and are pursuing leads as of Jan. 24 at 10:44 a.m.
Accroding to the release, preliminary findings indicate that an exchange of gunfire transpired between a victim, Stanley Koenig Sr., and suspect. Koenig sustained gunshot wounds during the altercation and was transported to a local hospital, where he currently remains in critical condition.
As the inquiry is ongoing, the investigative team is currently withholding specific details to preserve the integrity of the investigation, according to the agency.
