The buzz on Facebook groups is true. Jack's is coming to Loxley.

Gulf Coast Media received an email from a reader asking about the possibility. The first confirmation came from Loxley's community development director, Jonathan Smith, and the second confirmation came from Jack's.

Construction on the Loxley Jack's Family Restaurant is underway. Smith said it is on the east side of Highway 59, just south of Highway 59 and 64. Kylee Jackson, Jack's digital marketing coordinator, said the fast food hamburger, fried chicken and biscuit chain is scheduled to open by the end of February barring any construction delays.

Jack's Family Restaurants is a privately owned company based in Homewood, where the first Jack's opened in 1960. The first location was a walk-up "hamburger joint." The brand has grown to have 250 locations across four states: Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi. Currently, the closest Jack's to Baldwin County is the Atmore location or Citronelle.

The Loxley location will be the first Jack's to open in Baldwin County. When larger brands come to Baldwin County, they tend to land in Foley due to the traffic flow through Hwy. 59.

"Whenever we are looking for locations, we are looking for a location that we can be a community partner in and to really set roots in that city and community," Jackson said. "Loxley was one of those places that we thought we could be a partner and good neighbor to the community."

WHAT TO EXPECT

When a new establishment chooses Baldwin County, the locals want to know what to expect. The restaurant will feature a single drive-through, an open interior dining room and a front porch with rocking chair seating.

"We always want our guests to feel warm and welcome when they come into our restaurants and to enjoy the southern food that we offer," Jackson said.

WHAT ABOUT THE FOOD?

"That answer is simple when it comes to food. We have the best Southern food," Jackson said. "You can expect a wide variety of menu items from fried chicken, burgers, fries, coleslaw and green beans. We have a wide variety of Southern food, and we pride ourselves on our made-from-scratch biscuits every morning."

Every morning, Jack's Biscuit Maker comes in at 4 a.m. to handmake biscuits. The Loxley location will have a glass window where guests can watch how the biscuits are made every morning.

Jackson said her personal favorites are the biscuits. According to her, they are "to die for." She is also a fan of the hand-breaded fried chicken.

SIGNATURE ITEMS

When it comes to signature menu items, besides the biscuits and fried chicken, Jackson said the brand is famous for the Big Jack burger.

NOW WE WAIT

An opening date has not yet been finalized, but Jackson said they are already gearing up for the grand opening. Like some restaurant brands, Jack's hosts a grand opening celebration at each location. The first 50 guests in line will receive free breakfast for one month.

"We love to see our guests line up early in the morning to try to be one of the first 50 customers," Jackson said. "We are really excited about the grand opening. That is one of the things we put a lot of time and energy into planning. We love to see the community come out and be a part of our grand opening."

Jackson suggests people download the Jacks's Family Restaurant app. The app gives customers access to exclusive deals and allows them to accumulate reward points that can be redeemed for free menu items.

"We are very excited for this location," Jackson said, "and to be making our way to Loxley."
