Manufacturer Kaishan expanding Loxley facility; 50 new jobs to pay 150% higher than Baldwin average

Kaishan Compressor USA, a diversified industrial equipment manufacturer centering around rotary screw technologies, is making investments to expand its location in Loxley – just five years after its inception.

The company known for producing compressed air equipment is now putting $11 million toward an expansion to not only double its footprint at the existing 65,000-square-foot facility and increase manufacturing capabilities, but also to create 50 new direct jobs within the next five years. The Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance states these jobs will pay more than 150% higher than the average wage in Baldwin County and bring $4.2 million in new payroll for the area. While focusing on its in-house employees (20% of staff being military veterans) and technical service training, Kaishan plans to make improvements to its Research and Development Center to enhance the production of its oil-free products as well as the staple oil-injected rotary screw compressors.

“Kaishan has seen unprecedented growth in the North American compressor market since our first groundbreaking at this site,” CEO Keith Schumacher noted. “Our customers have patronized our products, our customer service and our business strategies, making it impossible to continue without doubling the size of our existing facility. Additionally, we are proud to be part of the growth here in lower Alabama as we add high-quality jobs as a result of our reshoring activities.”

Loxley Mayor Richard Teal also expressed his support of Kaishan’s growth and its long-term vision within the community.

“The City of Loxley is extremely excited regarding the $11 million expansion of the Kaishan Compressor USA facility located within our corporate limits,” Teal said. “We deeply value and appreciate all our partners in our endeavors for economic development and job creation. We are thrilled regarding the future of our community and job creation, new or expanded business and more healthy and sustainable opportunities for our citizens and region.”

This project, which kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, April 22, is expected to reach completion by Spring 2025.
