Two people were arrested after Baldwin County deputies seized more than 2,000 pills they say were laced with fentanyl from a home in Foley.

The Baldwin County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Moccasin Lane, according to a press release. Two firearms along with 1,627 fentanyl pills were located and seized, according to a press release from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

This search warrant was the result of a three-month-long investigation into the distribution of fentanyl in southern Baldwin County. This investigation uncovered a “significant distribution operation that resulted in the seizure of more than 2,000 fentanyl tablets over the course of the investigation.”

After the home was searched, Matthew Lyle Crider and Bailey Madison Hart were arrested. Crider was charged with three counts of trafficking fentanyl, and Hart was charged with tampering with physical evidence and trafficking fentanyl.

“When we are able to seize illicit drugs, we prevent these deadly substances from reaching drug abusers, reduce overdoses and reduce the availability of drugs in our community,” the release stated.
