Bayside Academy Admirals at St. Michael Catholic Cardinals: Thursday, Sept. 7, 7 p.m.

With this much-anticipated rematch, a couple of potent offenses are on a collision course in the teams’ Class 4A Region 1 opener.

Bayside Academy has scored more than 30 points in its first two wins under new head coach and former Auburn quarterback Barrett Trotter. On the other side, St. Michael tied its single-game scoring record with last week’s 49-18 win under third-year head coach and former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers.

The Admirals have won all three previous meetings although last year’s barnburner was the closest contest of the series.

No. 9 Foley Lions at No. 8 MGM Vikings: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m.

On Foley’s first road trip of the season, the Lions will be searching for their first 3-0 start to a season since the 2015 campaign. It has also been eight years since Foley returned to the Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings where the Lions checked in at No. 10 in the Class 7A poll after Week 1.

Mary G. Montgomery will enter with its first 2-0 record since 2007 after wins over Williamson (41-2) and Charles Henderson (19-7). The Vikings were at No. 9 in the first two Class 7A polls which served as their first top-10 appearance since 2002.

Last year’s Foley-MGM meeting needed extra time as the Lions prevailed 43-42 in overtime thanks to a touchdown pass to Perry Thompson and a two-point conversion to Harrison Knight. The Lions improved to 24-6 against the Vikings in the all-time series and extended to a four-game win streak.

Spanish Fort Toros at Baldwin County Tigers: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m.

In 11 meetings, Baldwin County has yet to beat Spanish Fort on the football field. The Toros will be searching for their second straight 2-1 start to a season after starting 0-1.

The Tigers registered 24 points in their season-opening loss to 10th-ranked Foley thanks in part to three touchdowns and 223 total yards from Ti Mims.

Spanish Fort has held Baldwin County to single-digit points the last five consecutive seasons while scoring more than 30 points in three.
