The grand finale to the Marjorie Younce Snook Public Library’s “Libraries Rock” Summer Reading Program was held on Tuesday, June 26. The day featured face painting with artist Shelly Stidham, along with several arts and crafts projects. The kids enjoyed hot dogs, chips, and a visit from the Ice Cream Van, a perfect treat during the summer day. Throughout the summer, young library patrons have been able to enjoy learning about beekeeping, tell stories during “Fired up about Reading” Family Time Around the (INDOOR) Campfire, and Animal Tales’ “Libraries Rock” show, where the kids were able to interact with animals while learning a bit about them. During the finale, youngsters were able to craft their own “snow globes” and sand art, while having fun creating together.
The Thursday morning program “Sunshine Storytime” for children aged 4 and under, held from 10 to 11, and the Thursday afternoon program for school-aged children, held from 2 to 3:30, will continue throughout the summer months. The Marjorie Younce Snook Public Library is located at 202 West Broadway Street in Summerdale and is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 6 and on Saturdays from 9 to 1.
