The City of Gulf Shores will host its annual Haunted Hustle 5K, Fun Run and Witches on Wheels ride on Oct. 21, offering the opportunity to get your workout in before treating yourself to that never ending supply of Halloween candy.

"Locals and visitors are invited to wear their best Halloween costumes and participate in this horrifyingly fun event, featuring a 5K, fun run, witches on wheels bike parade and a live DJ on stage," the release said. "Proceeds from this event will benefit the Dolphin Foundation for Education and Arts, who will also be selling beer and wine and refreshments on-site."

Participants can pick up their packet information early on Oct. 16, Oct. 17 and Oct. 19 at Bodenhamer Recreation Center or on Oct. 18 and Oct. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Big Beach Brewing Company. Participants can also pick up their packet information onsite from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on race day.

About the Witches on Wheels bike parade

The bicycle ride will begin at 6 p.m., kicking off the event as participants ride approximately two miles throwing beads and candy to bystanders. The participation fee is $30 through Oct. 20 and $35 on race day. All registered participants will receive a goodie bag, water bottle, towel and event shirt.

About the Haunted Hustle 5K Walk/Run

The race will begin promptly at 7:10 p.m. and will begin and end in front of Gulf Place Town Green. The participation fee is $35 through Oct. 20 and $40 on race day. Participants will also receive a goodie bag, water bottle, towel and event shirt.

About the event;
Beginning promptly at 6:30 p.m., participants will walk a one mile route beginning at Gulf Place Town Green. The participation fee is $30 through Oct. 20 and $35 on race fee. Participants will also receive a "spooktacular" finishers medal, goodie bag, water bottle, towel and event shirt. The award information is as follows:

Fun Run: The Fun Run is not a timed event, and all who finish the run will receive a Haunted Hustle medal.

5K Walkers: Awards will be given to the top 3 overall fastest Male and Female walkers. This is a chip timed event, and no running or jogging is allowed if registering for the 5K as a walker.

5K Run: Awards will be given to the top three fastest male and female runners in each age group. This is a chip timed event, and fastest male and female prizes will be given to: master (age 40-49), grand-master (ages 50-59) and senior grand master (ages 60+). Age groups are: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75+.

Awards: You may be eligible for only one award, and masters, grand masters, and senior grand-masters will be listed in their respective age group until the winners of the age group categories are determined. At that time all top masters will be removed from their age group standings, and the remaining runners in those age groups will all move up one spot in the standings.
