Charles Edward Davis

Charles Edward Davis, 77, went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 20, 2018 at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Prichard to Neal C. Davis Sr. and Ethel M. Davis. He graduated from Vigor High School 1958.

He married his high school sweetheart, Amanda, his wife of 59 years. He retired from Kimberly Clark, (Scott Paper Co.), after 38 years and he and Amanda settled in Fairhope in 1993.

They became world travelers, visiting over 67 different countries. For Charles, life at the river house was best when family and friends gathered for big cookouts and watching Alabama Football. Can we get a big Roll Tide?!

He was a man of great faith, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and was one of the most compassionate and generous men anyone would ever have the privilege of meeting.

He was predeceased by his parents; his three brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda C. Davis of Fairhope; and two daughters, Sonya D. (Jim) Bowling and Charlotte D. Teet of Fairhope. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Justin W. Teet, Tara T. Stembridge and Lauren and Audrey Bowling; and great-grandchildren, Tristan J. and Anna Kate Teet; and many other relatives and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, the family will celebrate his life privately.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations be made in Charles' honor to The First Baptist Church of Fairhope, 300 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532, or The Glioblastoma Foundation, P.O. Box 62066, Durham, NC 27715 or www.glioblastomafoundation.org.

Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL 36526.
