Emery “Floyd” Childress

Emery “Floyd” Childress, a lifelong resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Tues., Jan. 2, 2024, at the age of 84. He was the Owner/Operator of Hwy. 27 Dirt and Childress Farms. He loved life and having fun. He was an outdoorsman and an avid Alabama football fan. Floyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather and uncle.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Carol Childress; parents, Lewis, and Ellen Childress; sister, Catherine Little; brothers, John Rix Childress, Fuller Childress, and Tweed Childress; grandsons, Emery F. Childress III and Garrison Childress. He is survived by his wife, Pam Childress of Fairhope; daughters, Monica (Paul) Lores of Silverhill and Madison Childress of Fairhope; sons, Emery (Amy) Childress of Fairhope, Allen (Kelly) Childress of Daphne, and Rodney Childress of Fairhope; sisters, Jeanette Wisenant of Cleveland, Texas and Lois (Ross) Layton of Fairhope; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and many other loving relatives, including nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Sat., Jan. 6, 2024, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral services were held Sun., Jan. 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Burial followed at Brook-Cedron Cemetery.
