James Grant Parris Jr., 80, passed away Jan. 8, 2017, at his Foley home surrounded by his family.
Jim graduated from Piedmont High School, obtained a bachelor's degree from Birmingham Southern College, then enlisted in the U.S. Army, discharging as a sergeant.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gail Parris; their daughters, Cassie Jepsen (Dale) of Foley, Alabama, Lisa Way (John) of Garland, Texas; grandchildren; Tiffany Peed, Michael Grant Parris, both of Foley, Alabama; great-grandchild, Sawyer Peed; brother, John Parris (Sherrill) of Montgomery, Alabama; and niece, Shannon Bowlin (Mark) of Montgomery, Alabama.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Grant and Kathleen Parris.
A funeral service will be held at Foley United Methodist Church, 915 N. Pine St., Foley, AL, Jan. 10, 2017 at 11 a.m.
Visitation will be held at the same location on Jan. 10, at 10 a.m.
There will be no graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Foley First United Methodist Church, 915 N. Pine St., Foley, AL 36535.
