Lum Morrison Jr. (Sonny), 80, a native of McCalla and a resident of Spanish Fort, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after battling a long illness. Lum Morrison Jr. was born in McCalla on May 14, 1943.

He graduated from Organic School of Education in Fairhope and continued on to serve briefly in the Navy before pursuing a career in the pipe fitting industry. Lum Morrison Jr. worked as a pipe fitter for UA Local 119 for 58 years. He was a long-standing member of the Church of Christ and did mission work in Trinidad, Tobago, Guyana and Surinam. He enjoyed everything that involved the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was actively involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Lum Morrison Jr. was always a tough guy on the outside but had a kind-loving heart for others and pets. His sense of humor never failed to make anyone laugh.

Lum Morrison Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Lum Morrison Sr., mother, Edwina Morrison, and daughter, Ashley Roberson. Lum Morrison Jr. is survived by his loving wife, Lanora Morrison of Spanish Fort; daughters, Kimberly (Ron) Verboom of Long Beach, Mississippi, and Kristian Morrison of Spanish Fort; grandchildren, Ty Roberson of Huntsville and Erick Roberson of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Joe Morrison of Mobile, Fred Morrison and Billy (Margaret) Morrison of Fairhope; sister, Mary (Billy) Donald of Fairhope; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Flowers may be sent to the Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may also be given to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of the United States.

Visitation was held on Saturday, July 8, at Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. The graveside service was at Memorial Gardens of Fairhope at 11:30 a.m.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home. Minister Wayne Pruette of the Tennessee Church of Christ was assisted by Minister Jeff Eifert of the Belforest Christian Church in leading the sermon at the graveside service.

The family of Lum Morrison Jr. wishes to thank Dr. Dowden, Dr. Dearing, Dr. Boyer, Dr. Pluscht and Dr. Trice. A special thank you goes to the Gentiva Health System, his nurse Amber, home-care aid Jennifer, social worker Lealoni, minister Susan and so many others.
