Robert John Bruenn, age 87, of Fairhope, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 27, 2018 following a long illness.

Bob was born in Meriden, Connecticut to Carl and Louise Bauchmann Bruenn.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Ferry Bruenn; daughter, Christine Bruenn, and her husband Bogan; son, Robert J. Bruenn Jr.; and daughter, Amy Drake, and her husband, Alex; three grandchildren, Katherine, Nicholas and Vanessa; brother, Edward Bruenn; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hanlon Bruenn; sister-in-law, Patricia Ferry McGranaghan; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Gloria; his brother, Carl; and his brother, Allen.

A Korean War Navy veteran who served on the USS Purdy, Bob was a fun-loving, extroverted optimist who became the first member of his family to graduate from college. He worked at Standard Register for 35 years.

He was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Daphne, and served as its building fund treasurer. A great handyman, Bob was always helping family, friends and neighbors.

He was good with his short game in golf, and was Elaine's best bridge partner.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Daphne at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018, with interment to immediately follow at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
