The administration and Board of Trustees at Snook Christian Academy (SCA) have announced the appointment of Tommy Wasden as the Upper School Head for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year in a news release.

With a 32-year background in education spanning both Christian and public schools, Wasden brings a wealth of experience to the SCA community.

Previously serving as the high school principal and head of school at Mobile Christian School in Mobile, Wasden also held the position of head football coach at Faulkner University in Montgomery from 2019-2021. His extensive tenure at Mobile Christian School, where he served as president for 16 years, highlights his dedication to educational leadership.

In his new role, Wasden will serve as the spiritual leader for staff and students in grades 6-12, a responsibility he embraces with enthusiasm, aligning seamlessly with his lifelong commitment to faith-based leadership.

Wasden, married to Kim Stocks for 35 years, comes from a deeply rooted family within the Christian school community. Their three children are actively involved in Christian education, with two sons employed at Mobile Christian School and their daughter set to join SCA as an elementary PE teacher in the fall. Mr. Wasden's experience as head football coach at various institutions, including Faulkner University and Mobile Christian School, will enhance SCA's athletic programs, further bolstering the school's holistic educational offerings.

"I am looking forward to serving the students and families of Snook Christian Academy," Wasden said in the release. "My prayer is that I will do so with consistency and compassion."

SCA President Thad Butts praised Wasden's appointment, citing his extensive experience and unwavering faith as invaluable assets to the institution. Board President Lester Smith echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in Wasden's ability to propel the school forward.

Snook Christian Academy, a private Christian school accredited by Cognia, the National Christian School Association, and the Alabama Independent School Association, serves students from PK3 through 12th grade. Located in Summerdale, SCA has been a cornerstone of academic and spiritual growth since its establishment in 2006, currently catering to over 370 students and competing athletically in the AISA.
